Testing of SMS alerts this week

A test of the public warning system via mobile phones is planned for Thursday, February 26, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The public warning system is tested twice a year. This normally takes place in January, with the last test occurring on January 15. Due to an error on the part of the warning service provider, very few phones received the SMS alert. The error has been rectified.

This shows the importance of conducting regular exercises and testing emergency preparedness tools. Based on the experience from the test in January, LL will therefore conduct a new test of the public warning system:

Thursday, February 26, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
