Information about operations at Longyearbyen Cultural Center

Unfortunately, our partner at the Tio Monchos/Rockhouse AS cultural center has to limit its operations.

The Longyearbyen Local Council regrets that Tio Monchos/Rockhouse AS is now facing a challenging situation where a lack of housing is making it difficult to maintain normal operations at Longyearbyen Kulturhus. We understand that this affects both the operator, the employees, and everyone who appreciates the dining and meeting place functions offered by the cultural center.

To ensure predictability in the future, the Longyearbyen Local Council has entered into an agreement with Tio Monchos/Rockhouse AS on a temporary, limited operating model. Although we would have liked to see the regular restaurant and café operations continue as normal, we are pleased that the operator will remain open in connection with events and activities at the cultural center until the summer.

We hope that the situation will improve over time, so that more stable and full-scale operations will once again be possible. The Longyearbyen Local Council will continue to work to ensure good framework conditions for operators who wish to contribute to an active cultural center and a diverse cultural life in Longyearbyen.
