Death dive! Do you dare to join us?

The Longyearbyen local council invites young and old alike to two days of fun, mastery, and adrenaline when it hosts both a course and a competition in death diving on March 10 and 11.

In recent years, death diving has become a popular activity that combines excitement, fear, and creative expression. The sport involves jumping from a platform with complete immersion and style, before pulling your body together at the last moment and hitting the water with a characteristic belly flop. The result can look dramatic—but it's all about having fun.

Introductory course for all levels

On Tuesday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m., anyone who wants to try it out—whether you are a complete beginner or want to refine your technique—is invited to an introductory course at the swimming pool in Svalbardhallen. The course provides a safe and fun introduction to basic death diving techniques.

Show and competition the following day

On Wednesday, March 11, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., it's time for the finals with a show and competition. There will be prizes, cheers, and a great atmosphere. The audience is, of course, welcome to fill the stands.

For young people and adults

Anyone in 8th grade or higher can participate. The course instructor is the experienced Arne Veim Haugland.

We encourage everyone who is ready for a little action—or who just wants to challenge their comfort zone—to join in.
