New kindergarten regulations adopted by Longyearbyen local council

The Longyearbyen local government has adopted new kindergarten regulations that will apply from August 1, 2026, with clearer and more up-to-date rules for admission, organization, and operation.

At its meeting on February 18, 2026, the Longyearbyen Local Council adopted new regulations for daycare centers, which will come into force on August 1, 2026.

The new regulations replace the current regulations and include updated provisions on admission, organization, opening hours, and other frameworks for kindergarten services in Longyearbyen.

The purpose of the changes is to ensure clear and predictable frameworks for parents, employees, and partners, as well as to adapt the statutes to current needs.
