Political meetings are picking up again after the summer

The political fall season is underway, and the Longyearbyen Local Council has simultaneously begun using a new meeting management system. During a brief transition period, this means that LOKU, TMNU, and AU meetings in September will not be streamed.

After the summer, the Longyearbyen Local Council’s political meetings are back in session. The first meetings of the fall will be held in September, and political matters will be addressed, as usual, by the various committees.

Starting in the fall of 2026, the Longyearbyen Local Council has adopted a new system for managing meetings. The transition to the new system is intended to provide more modern and efficient meeting administration, but during the initial implementation phase, the system change also presents some practical challenges.

As a result, the meetings of the Local Community, Youth, and Culture Committee (LOKU) on September 1, the Technical, Environmental, and Economic Development Committee (TMNU) on September 1, and the Administration Committee (AU) on September 2 will not be streamed.

The meetings will take place as scheduled, and meeting documents will be available through the new meeting portal.
