Ski trails
We want to facilitate skiing activities and groom trails in winter when snow conditions allow.
Here you will find more information about the trails and the alpine slope.
Lighted trail

In Longyearbyen, the Longyearbyen Trail Team is responsible for preparing cross-country ski trails. At skisporet.no, External link. you can see when the snow groomer has been out preparing the trails.
The trail team also has its own Facebook group External link. where they post updates about the ski trails.
Cross-country skiing trail

When there is enough snow, we also start preparing the base and tracks to Hiorthhamn. This is a ski trail that is best suited when the light returns. Here you must bring protection against polar bears. This trail is also the start of the Svalbard Ski Marathon, which is organized by Svalbard Turn.
Alpine skiing
The ski slope is located between the pointed houses and Road 232. There is no parking here, so if you need to drive, we recommend parking in the parking lot in front of the Longyearbyen public library.
The length of the lift track is around 470 meters, with a height difference of 117 meters from top to bottom. The lift ride takes approximately 3 minutes and has a capacity of 73 people.
Svalbard Turn External link. will collaborate with Løypelaget, which is responsible for maintaining ski trails, preparing trails for the Skimaraton, and preparing the alpine slope.
Svalbard Turn operates the slope, and information about prices and opening hours will be available on their website.
