Polarflokken Kindergarten
Polarflokken Kindergarten is a base kindergarten that opened in 2007 and was expanded in the fall of 2010. The areas are adapted to the climatic conditions on Svalbard, and we have, among other things, outdoor/indoor areas, a barbecue hut, an Arctic climbing tower, and a play area under the kindergarten that is sheltered from the weather and wind.
The children are divided into two groups: the toddler group for children aged 1-3 and the older children's group for children aged 2-6. The kindergarten has a large outdoor area with a sledding hill, barbecue hut, and playground equipment.
Our closest neighbors are the school and the sports hall. In winter, we have a ski trail and ice rink in the immediate vicinity.
Kindergarten opening hours and planning days
The daycare center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every weekday.
During the Christmas holidays, the daycare center is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The daycare center is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
On the Wednesday before Maundy Thursday, the daycare center closes at 12:00 p.m.

Transition from kindergarten to school
The kindergartens have a good and established collaboration with Longyearbyen School.
