The new comprehensive ROS analysis for Longyearbyen was adopted at the local council meeting on September 19, 2023.

Good local preparedness is a fundamental prerequisite for good national preparedness. Good preparedness in Longyearbyen is important for our residents and for preparedness in Svalbard. Good preparedness in Svalbard is important for Norway.

Longyearbyen's psychosocial crisis team was established in the fall of 2016. The crisis team is a collaboration between Svalbard Church, Longyearbyen Hospital, and Longyearbyen Local Council. The crisis team was established to ensure necessary care and support for people who have been involved in accidents/crises and their relatives. The team has been active in various incidents over the past year. 

The "Mandate and Organization of Longyearbyen's Psychosocial Crisis Team" was formally adopted at the local council meeting on June 26, 2017.
