Even though we live in a safe community, unwanted incidents and crises can also occur here. You are part of Longyearbyen's emergency preparedness.

It is important that we are prepared, regardless of where we live. But perhaps especially when you live in a place where it can be difficult to get enough help in a short time. Longyearbyen has no neighboring municipalities that can provide immediate assistance. It is therefore important that you have your own emergency preparedness plan to take care of yourself and those around you until help arrives or the crisis is averted.

The Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) recommends that as many people as possible be prepared to fend for themselves for one week. This will allow LL and the emergency services to prioritize our resources to manage the crisis and help those who cannot fend for themselves in a crisis.
