Det har kommet mye nedbør det siste døgnet og kombinert med sterk vind har det ført til pålasting av snø i fjellsiden under Platåberget, som øker faren for skred. Sysselmesteren har derfor besluttet ferdselsforbud i området inntil videre og Longyearbyen lokalstyre stenger vei 300 på vestsiden av Longyeardalen mellom Huset og bro 501 (Museumsveien) for all ferdsel fra kl. 16:30 mandag 27 februar.
Sysselmesteren og Lokalstyre følger situasjonen videre i samarbeid med NGI og vil ta en ny vurdering tirsdag 28 februar.

Traffic ban on road 300 until further notice
Road 300 from the intersection at the old museum up to Huset is closed from 16:30 today and until further notice due to the risk of avalanches from Platåberget. The Governor has introduced a traffic ban on the upper side of the stretch of road. This means that the ski trail is not available.
There has been a lot of precipitation in the last 24 hours and, combined with strong winds, this has led to the loading of snow on the mountainside below Platåberget, which increases the risk of avalanches. The Governor has therefore decided on a traffic ban in the area until further notice and Longyearbyen local council closes road 300 on the west side of Longyeardalen between the House and bridge 501 (Museumsveien) to all traffic from 16:30 Monday 27 February.
The Governor and the Local Council continue to monitor the situation in collaboration with NGI and will make a new assessment on Tuesday 28 February.
